Mo7-L3a: What is Physical Change?
Dissolving, or evenly mixing, is a physical change Key Concept
because the identities of the substances involved do
not change. What is Physical Change?
What is meant by conservation of mass?
Key Concept
What is Physical Change?
How can removing thermal energy affect the state
of matter?
SUMMARY
What is Physical Change?
During a physical change, matter can change
form, shape, size, or state, but the identity of
the matter does not change.
Matter either changes temperature or changes
Conservation of Mass state when enough thermal energy is added or
removed.
Conservation of mass refers to the fact that the total
mass before and after a physical change is the same. Mass is conserved during physical changes,
which means that mass is the same before and
after the changes occur
