Mo6-L1a: The Properties of Materials

Density: The density of a substance is its mass per Melting Point: The melting point is the temperature
unit volume at which a substance changes state from a solid to
                                                           a liquid.

Flexibility: The flexibility of a materials is its ability
        to bend without breaking.

Thermal Conductivity: The thermal conductivity of
a material is its ability to allow heat to pass through it.

Ductility: Ductile materials have the ability to be
drawn into wires or thread when pulled.

                                                           Electrical Conductivity: The Electrical conductivity
of a materials is its ability to allow electric current to
                                                           pass through it.

Malleability: Malleable materials have the ability
to be rolled into thin sheets or beaten into different
        shapes.

                                                           Conductors and Insulators

An insulator is a material that does now allow for
heat to pass through it (thermal insulator) or does
not conduct electricity well (electrical insulator).
Boiling Point: The boiling point is the temperature
at which a substance boils. It changes from a liquid
        to a gas.
