Mo4-L3b: What is the pH of a Solution?

The pH of a solution can be measured by dipping a SUMMARY
pH testing strip into the solution.
What is the pH of a Solution?
                                                               Hydronium ion concentration changes
                                                                         inversely with pH.

This means that as hydronium ion
                                                             concentration increases, the pH decreases.

                                                                                             +
A more accurate way to measure pH is to use a pH H
        meter.
                                                                      H O

                                                                                      H

pH can be measured using indicators or
                                                                         digital pH meters.

                       Key Concept

What is the pH of a Solution? 0 7 14

What are the two methods that can be used to
measure the pH of a solution?
